You might have seen the video from the “Chewbacca mom,” it went insanely viral, but the incredible fact about this mom is that she just did the video FOR FUN, just because she was so happy with her gift that she needed to show it to her friends.
Once they saw this video, Hasbro (the toy manufacturer responsible for the masks) had two options: take advantage of this situation, or ignore it. Yes, you guessed it, they took the opportunity, but what they did was truly #BRAIN_DING.
How is this branding in its maximum expression?
She bought the mask as a birthday present for herself because she’s a fan, but the fact that she made a video for her friends shows how much she loved the toy and couldn’t resist spreading some happiness. When Hasbro saw this, they couldn’t resist their own urge to give Chewbacca Mom her own action figure.

Also, Kohl’s (the store where she bought the mask) did some branding and went to her house with a whole lot of presents for her family, thanking her for being a loyal customer.
And it wasn’t even Christmas…
This act by Hasbro and Kohl’s was the smartest thing they could do, because they’re showing how much they care about their fans.
